CLUB ANNUAL REPORT 2021-22

ABBEY NETBALL CLUB
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

TUESDAY 24TH JUNE 2025
7:30PM
Via Online Video Call

1. Matters and actions arising - please send to Club Secretary via the Abbey
e- mail account
2. Annual report - Chair to summarise
● Trials were well attended at the start, but a big drop off was noted mid-
season.
● Introduction of the U19 team created difficulty on numbers for the Lightning
squad, as juniors were pulled across two teams. Next year we will enter on an
U19 team.
● Senior teams - challenging season on results. Hurricanes will be entering
prem-plus, and a regional feeder league run by CD Phoenix, to give the ladies
Sunday netball, with the aim to get back into the Regional League in Season
2026-27.
● There are a lot of committee roles to be filled to continue the normal running
of the club. We would preferentially have a more diverse mix of committee
members across all teams (Hurricanes, Ice, Lightning, Seniors and Junior
parents).

2. Treasurer report and 23/24 Club Fees Review  -  circulated in AGM Report
● Attendees approved the Treasurer’s report.
● Venue costs have been a large driver of the Club accounts. We will need to
revisit fees in light of potentially new venues, leagues and training nights.

3. Junior Section report – circulated in AGM Report
● We have not secured any coaches for next year. Our 2024/25 coaches have all
stepped down from their roles.
● We have met a prospective coach, who currently coaches at a London club
that won national U11 finals. However, they cannot coach girls on a
Wednesday. We are now looking to secure venues in different days.
● Plan A: We have set coaches for all age groups that coach their teams and go
to matches on Sunday.
○ The new prospective coach can commit to two age groups, and
Sunday.

● Plan B: We have three coaches for the age groups, with parents covering
Sunday matches.
● Plan C: We cannot run some of, or all of our Junior teams.
● We have sent an email out to parents of Junior squads explaining that we are:
○ (1) Looking for a core squad of parents for each age group. We have
had responses from 1 parent from each age group to be able to do the
core parent role. With more parents saying they will help out on match
days.
○ (2) Due to long waiting lists, we have said that it is compulsory for
parents to volunteer to support girls and matches. If they are unable to
support, we may have to take this into consideration when selecting
players.

● We would like to trial the Junior players, as we are not always getting the best
girls to support the Senior team in years to come.
● We are still looking to secure the venue, in order to secure a core coach.

8. Election of Officers for 2025/26
● Chair: Gemma Muttitt (no change from 2024/25)
● Vice Chair: Lee-Anne (proposer Charlotte, seconded by Caitlin)
● Correspondence Sec: still to be filled
● Bookings Sec: still to be filled. Lesley Williams act as cover if no one else
comes forwards.
● Coaching Sec: Charlotte Barlow (proposer Lee-Anne, seconded by Caitlin)
● Junior Co-ordinator: Caitlin W has mentioned on other comms. channels her
willingness to act as Junior co-ordinator
● Publicity Secretary (Website): Liv Jones (proposer Lauren, seconded by
